Our 1 Year Anniversary!!! :)

Wow, I can't believe it's already been a year!  We got married on October 3, 2009 and celebrated our anniversary last weekend in Fredericksburg, TX.  It was a nice relaxing weekend to just enjoy each other.  We both took off on Monday so we had a little bit more time to spend there.  We rented a log cabin out in the country for the weekend.  Here is a picture of it...
It was so nice and had some amazing views....way better than in Houston :)  We both miss being in the country.  Our first day we went to two wineries and did wine tastings and a tour.  We both learned so much about wine and really enjoyed learning how they make the wine.  Here's a picture from Grape Creek Vinyard!
After the wineries we went and had lunch on Main Street, then went shopping!  There are so many cute shops, I was in heaven and Jerrod was a great sport all day! :)  It was also Oktoberfest that weekend so it was PACKED!  But we made our way through the crowds.  The next day we woke up (our actual anniversary day) and Jerrod and I exchanged gifts.  One of my gifts from Jerrod was a "Year Book", like the ones you get in high school except it was pictures of all of the people in our lives over the past year, and different pictures for things like "Prom Queen", "Carpenter Athletics", "Most likely's", etc.  Then he had all of our friends sign it and write notes in it to me like you do in high school.  It was so thoughtful, he is so creative!!!  It made me feel so special!  Then we watched our wedding video which was fun because we hadn't done that all the way through yet!  Little did we know that Jerrod's mom and Memom (grandma) danced down the isle on their way out of the ceremony, LOL...there were several humorous events in that video that we had never seen or heard about :)  Afterwards we grabbed some lunch on Main Street and went to the WWII re-enactment!  Yes, you heard right! LOL  Jerrod LOVES history (hence why he teaches it) an he insisted that we go.  Jerrod loved it to say the least...and I made it through it :)   Here is a picture from the re-enactment!
After that we went to Enchanted Rock for a hike to the top!  My parents said they took me when I was about 3 or 4 but I have no recollection of that (sorry mom).  So it was all new to me.  I really enjoyed it!  Hiking is something that we really enjoy doing together and try to do it whenever we can on vacations!  Here is a picture at the top of Enchanted Rock...
Afterwards we went back to the cabin to take a nap, and get ready for our last night in Fbg.  We went to dinner at a cute little place on Main Street that had some live music, and the weather was awesome all weekend so we were able to enjoy dinner outside (that doesn't happen in Houston) :)  Here is us at dinner....
After dinner we went to the cabin and got out the top tier of our wedding cake.  My parents did a fabulous job of storing it in their freezer for a year (thanks mom and dad!).  So, we had to eat it!!!  Jerrod wasn't very excited about it but it was actually pretty good!  Way better than we expected :)  Here is us about to cut the cake!
It was a great anniversary weekend!  It was so nice to get away from the busyness of Houston and relax out in the country.  We feel so blessed that the Lord has brought us together and can't wait for 60+ more years together!  I love you Jerrod!!!!

Instead of spending a bunch of money on a nice dinner in Fbg we decided to save the money and go to a nice restaurant in Houston when we got back.  Tonight we went to the Melting Pot and it was amazing!  Here is a picture from dinner there....
Thanks for your love and support throughout the last year.  It's been the best year of our lives and we are so thankful for each other!!!

Blessings!
